Focus Friday: French Foliage Stamp Set

If you saw my post on Tuesday, this was the card that was used for the Rock and Roll Technique.  For Focus Friday, we are looking at this stamp set again.

This CAS card uses all three leaves from the French Foliage Stamp Set.  It is hard to see in the photo, but the bottom leaf is cut out and raised on a dimensional.  All the design elements for this card are done with ink and stamps.  A very simple card to recreate in your favorite colors.

Single leaves are not the only designs that you can get from this set.

The smaller leaf is used here to create a soft wreath for the holiday season.  The splatter dots were used to add the red "berries" to the wreath.

Two different shades of green were used to add depth and dimension.  A small bow and sentiment are all that you need to complete this card.

Halloween Swap

I have a swap with some other demonstrators coming up tonight.  The swap is based on this sketch from Inchie INKlings:

The sketch is simple enough to adapt to any theme, so I chose to start working on my Halloween cards.  

The images were done with punch art, stamping, and paper piecing. The ghost was done with the Owl Builder Punch, the pumpkin was done with a Circle Punch, and the candy corn was done with the pennant punch.

Everyone is going to love this swap and I have a great design for cards for the upcoming holiday.

Color Combo: Perfect Gumball Whisper

This week I am using a simple color combo with a new technique.  I used the Wood Grain embossing folder to stamp the background.  Even without a Big Shot, the embossing folders can be used very creatively.

I inked the folder with Perfect Plum and pressed the Whisper White cardstock between the layers to get an interesting effect.  I used the Gumball Green Stitched Ribbon for contrast.

 I am demonstrating this technique at a downline meeting on Thursday.  Hope they like it as much as I do.

Technique Tuesday: Rock and Roll

Rock And Roll: Using two colors of ink to add dimension to a stamped image.  For this card I used So Saffron and Pumpkin Pie.  The color differences are subtle but make a big difference on the card.

First, you ink the stamp with the lighter colored ink.  Then you roll just the edges of the stamp in a darker color.  This creates the two tone effect that I think is gorgeous on leaves.

PP114: Sketch Challenge

This week it is time for another Sketch Challenge.  This one is from the The Paper Players.

This sketch gave me so many fun ideas.  I decided on the butterflies for my theme.  I used the same butterfly stamp to make the patterned paper.  The colors were inspired by the Patio Party DSP.

Friday Focus: Paper Piercing Tools

This week's product focus is on the Paper Piercing Tools.  These tools were used in my Tuesday post featuring Faux Stitching. 

 

The Piercing Mat, Piercing Tool, and Mat Pack were all used to add the finishing touches on these cards.  For faux stitching you connect the holes with a marker or pen.  Sometimes, the piercing is enough of an embellishment.

I used the piercing template to add to the rose panels.  I also used the Stitched Ribbon that is on special this month.  Simple tools for a soft, beautiful effect.

Tip: The paper piercing tool can also be used to aid in placing pearls and rhinestones.

Class Card: Fall Theme

I teach a card class on the third Thursday of the month.  This month I am focusing on Fall colors.  This is one of the cards that I designed for class.  The deep colors and falling leaves remind me of the upcoming season.

I sponged Pumpkin Pie, Summer Starfruit, and Bravo Burgundy onto cardstock and then stamped the leaves in black.  If you are interested in making this and the other cards in my class, please see my website for details.

Talk Like A Pirate

Today is Talk Like a Pirate Day!  In honor of this day I have a punch art pirate card.  I am a huge fan of punch art and I loved figuring this cute guy out.

I used the Square Lattice Folder to give the shirt dimension and used the Linen Thread for his belt for a rustic, beached look.

It took some experimenting, but I finally found exactly the look I wanted for the sand.  I started with Crumb Cake cardstock, tore the edges, and sponged it with More Mustard.  Perfect!
