Technique Tuesday: Getting Loopy

Today's Technique is all about Getting Loopy with ribbon.  I used various loops a ribbon to make these cards.  This first card uses loops of ribbon to make a flower.

The loops are great because they can be flattened and mailed, but make a big impact when opened.

The second card was inspired by Fab Friday Challenge (#17).   Once again you will see that I made my own patterned paper for the tag.

This sketch has two embellishment near the top of the card which I chose to make with ribbon loops.

The envelope was matched to the card by using some DSP on the flap and stamping part of the pattern on the front of the envelope.

This card will be given to a friend who helped during the surgery.  Her thoughtfulness was deeply appreciated and deserves a handmade card at the very least.

The final card was inspired by Hand Stamped Sentiments Sketch Challenge #158.  This sketch is simple but beautiful.

Since I was using loops, I exchanged the bow for some ribbon loops.  I kept the card simple, but I love the way the cupcake DSP goes with the "millions" sentiment.

The loops give this card dimension, as does the embossing and popped up sentiment.

With lots of cupcakes on the outside, I thought the inside should have one big cupcake to match the rest of the sentiment.  I really love the way this card turned out.  Go ahead, get loopy!

MDSM12: Soccer Stars

Today is an MDS Monday Challenge (#12).  The challenge was to use their sketch and the brush tool in MDS.

The sketch is very cute and easy to use.  There are plenty of layers, so you can make it as clean or as busy as you want it.

To match the soccer theme I used the grass punch and the Athletic Department Brush Set.  The brush tool was used to make hand drawn stars.  I like the way the stars look like they were drawn by a kid since the layout is about my son.  He had so much fun at soccer and has been begging me to play again.  Looks like I will be spending the Fall at the soccer fields. :-)

Supplies: MDS, Nursery Digital DSP, Athletic Department Stamp Brush Set, Number One Background Stamp, Oval Punch, Grass Punch, Brush Tool

Amber 9: BeYOUtiful Ballerina

Today brings my wonderful diva daughter back to the page.  The pictures were taken through a window, so they are not great.  You can still see her attitude though.

I used the sketch from ScrapbookSteals.com Mid Week Mojo Challenge (Amber #9) for my inspiration.  So many great ideas came to my mind as I was looking at this sketch.

For my interpretation, I changed the shapes and adjusted the embellishments.  The main idea of the sketch is still there.  It always amazes me how much creativity one sketch can inspire.

HSS157: Delicate Thanks

Since my surgery there have been so many wonderful people helping me in so many wonderful ways.  I could not get through this without my family and friends.  With all this help, I was in need of quite a few Thank You cards.

My inspiration for this Thank You card was Hand Stamped Sentiments Color Challenge (#157).  More great spring colors that give a feeling of happiness.

And, for those who have followed my blog, you already know how much I love to make DSP.  I used the Delicate Doilies Stamp Set here to make a bright and cheerful background for my sentiment.  I can't wait to share it with one of my many wonderful helpers.

Fab Friday 16: Birthday Banners

Well, my surgery last week went great and now I am on the mend.  I have not gotten all my stamina back yet, so the few projects I will post this week will likely be in MDS.

The Fab Friday Color Challenge for this week is more Spring time colors.  These are all such great colors that I opted for a color block style card.

The two color panels were "embossed" and then the banners were "stamped" to mimic the design.  The butterflies were added for interest (and because you can never have too many butterflies).

Supplies: MDS, Meant to Be Background Stamp, Creative Elements Banner, Bring on the Cake Stamp, Flag Punch, Butterfly Punch

MDSM11: Making Muffins

One of my kids favorite things to have for breakfast is Zucchini Muffins.  I am going to have surgery soon and will be laid up for a while, so I thought it was time to stock the freezer for my kiddos.  Then, I saw the MDS Monday Challenge for today.

When I saw this sketch, I immediately thought of the pictures I had taken of the kids making muffins.  The Challenge this week was to use only items from one kit.  Finding just one kit to use was difficult, but I love the colors and shapes from the Day in the Life Kit.  The sketch was a lot of fun to work with, as well.

The papers, stamps, and journaling box were all part of the Day in the Life Kit.  The only thing I added was the photos (of course) and the tape.  I love the way the tape goes with the distressed look of the ripped edges of the DSP.  Which kit is your favorite?

Supplies: MDS, Day in the Life Designer Kit, Neutrals Digital Tape, Hexagon Punch

Fab Friday 15: Be Happy!

Today is inspired by another Fab Friday Sketch Challenge.  It is also another chance to make a fun card with no particular holiday or person in mind.

This sketch is very open to your own creativity.  A main image and a banner are the only elements.  You could easily adapt this to any theme.

There is a cute Designer Kit called On The Go which I used for all the DSP.  The clouds and trees seemed like a perfect fit together.

Then to go with the "be happy" sentiment on the front, I found this great definition stamp.  This would be great to give anyone who needs cheering up, or to someone who has cheered you up.

Supplies: MDS, On the Go Designer Kit, Sweetly Nested Frameable Brush Set, Word Play Brush Set, Tasteful Trim Punch
