Magical Masking is the technique for today. You simply tear a piece of masking tape long enough to cover your cardstock, press the sticky side to an ink pad, and then press it to the paper. The masking tape can be used as is, if you are using glossy paper. If you want to use regular cardstock, you will need to remove some of the stickiness from the tape by pressing it to fabric a couple of times first.
The masking tape leaves a very interesting texture, and no design is ever the same. You can use this to make stripes, as done here, or you can make plaids or checkers.
A simple central design leaves the masking visible. It is hard to tell from the photos, but the Elegant Eggplant color was chosen as a combination of the red and blue.
