I am keeping it clean and simple today and using two different challenges. I started with the
Fab Friday sketch (#19):
This sketch is full of possibilities and I was playing with several different options in my head. I knew right away that I wanted to turn the sketch on its side. Then I got the notice for
SplitcoastStampers technique challenge (TLC432) this week which was to use all neutral colors in your background and then use just one "Pop" of color in the foreground.
I received the Modern Medley paper from the new catalog and immediately thought of it for this challenge because it is all Basic Black and Very Vanilla. For my "Pop" I wanted something bright that would really stand out. So, I went with Strawberry Slush (one of the five new In Colors and fast becoming my new favorite color). The banner was created with a border stamp.
To coordinate the whole card, I used the border stamp (from Mosaic Madness) on the inside too. The One in a Million stamp set has several of these great sentiments so that you can stamp one on the outside and the finishing one on the inside. I absolutely love them!
To add a little weight and dimension to this card, I added three pearls colored with a black Sharpie to the bottom edge. I also matted the two patterns to help them stand out a little more. This card is destined for Molly, the receptionist at my son's school. Without her help I would not have been able to make the yearbook as complete as it is. She is amazing.
