Technique Tuesday: Spotlighting

Our technique today is Spotlighting.  This technique is a great way to spotlight part of an image. It allows you to use a detailed stamp without coloring the whole image. To do this, you simply stamp your image in black on white cardstock (or emboss I have done here).  Then stamp a second image which you will color however you like.  Then, cut out the colored image with dies or framelits.

This is the image I colored and cut out.  I used the Oval Framelits to get more of the design than I could get with a circle.  Once you have the colored image cut out, mat it with a slightly larger die or framelit and match it to your original image.
This will create the "spotlight" effect.  It is a great way to highlight part of a stamp or make a vivid statement with colors.
I also raised my "spotlight" on dimensionals to make it more obvious.  A wonderful way to make a big impact with just a little effort.
